Reviews
Large spots surrounded by tall trees, large rock formations, and a small creek. On the road but pretty quiet. We had a picnic table and grill. Small heated swimming pool was awesome for the kids. Got dinner and breakfast in town, 5 minutes drive down the road. Clean bathrooms with showers. Overall, very nice.
We camped here for five days. It was pretty quiet the first three but got pretty busy on the weekend. The camp spots are not very private but there are a few which are first come first serve which is what we needed. They were close enough to the restroom to be convenient. The bathrooms and showers were very clean for a campground. They got a little crazy by Sunday night, but Monday morning were clean again. There is a laundry area too. They have a pool for the kids, which we didn't have time to use, but it seemed popular. I would be willing to camp there again.
We just arrived yesterday but have to leave a review immediately. The campground is immaculate. Inside and out. The location is perfect. Even though it is right on the road it is very peaceful. It is much better than the large campgrounds on the main road. The 1880 steam train runs right by the camp and isn't disturbing at all. It only runs during the day and everyone waves when they go by. Adds great atmosphere. Speaking of atmosphere there is a roaring brook right behind our camp site I slept like a baby. The staff is sincerely friendly to the extreme. Big mistake if you come to Rushmore and don't stay here.
If you want your vacation been ruined, then you can stay in this “nice” RV park. The girl, unfortunately she is the owner’s daughter working in their office is customer service, she was very rude and aggressive, she was screaming at us, type of behavior that isn’t appropriate for be in this business. They told us to leave, because my husband simply told her, that this RV park has some safety issues, which they should mention to other visitors before they come to stay. ( the road to narrow and very high elevation). The owner and his daughter come to our site and unplug us from electricity, also they did turn the water off too and it was happening 2 hours before the check out time. They was screaming in our faces and told us that we have to leave in 5 minutes, even though we paid for 2 days camping, we end up to leave early. Unhappy owners can make your vacation miserable.
Great campground and a really good price. Everything was clean and well taken care of. The sites are pretty tight though, not even enough space for a built-in fire pit. Cell service was just about non existent and the wifi was always overloaded so we couldn't connect. Overall pretty happy with our stay.
Location for the sites were great for visiting the attractions in the area. RV sites were a little close together. Bathhouse was clean and well taken care of. WiFi did not work great. It was a little hit or miss.
My family had an excellent experience at Kemp’s Kamp. We stayed three nights at site 23 with our pop-up. Electric and water hookups worked, the bath house was clean, and our neighbors were friendly. We didn’t visit the pool but we did notice that it was very well occupied even though daytime temps were in the 70s. We especially enjoyed that every site had a covered picnic area and that the gravel pad was fairly leveled. Perfect location for a quick trip to Mount Rushmore and about a 30min drive to Crazy Horse. We will be back. Thank you, Kemp’s Kamp for creating the perfect space for a Black Hills family vacation!
Amazing. Spent a week there with the family. The staff (dogs and people) could not have been nicer. Bathrooms always clean, showers always hot. The pool is great and kids loved it. Cannot recommend this place enough.
